Assessment Services

We are able to provide the following types of assessments if you have been referred by the court system or an entity such as a state licensing board, or if you are pursuing an assessment to increase your understanding of certain difficulties you are experiencing.  These assessments differ from the counseling intake assessment that occurs during an initial counseling session, in that the following assessments include additional methods to evaluate your behaviors, symptoms, or concerns along with a clinical interview; additionally, a written report explaining the results of the assessment is provided.

  • Anger Management Assessment:  This assessment, for adolescents or adults, focuses on an individual's understanding of, expression of, and strategies to manage anger.  The assessment typically includes a review of court or other documents as applicable, a clinical interview, and possibly an additional screening tool.  Based on the information provided, recommendations regarding the need for anger management treatment will be offered.
  • Batterer / Domestic Violence Risk Assessment:  This assessment, for adolescents or adults, focuses on an individual's presentation of risk factors that are associated with domestic violence, which includes the maltreatment of partners/spouses, children, elderly, and animals.  The assessment typically includes a review of court and other documents as applicable, a clinical interview, and evidence-based evaluation tools related to lethality risk and domestic violence.  Based on the information provided, an estimated level of risk related to domestic violence and treatment recommendations will be offered.
  • Mental Health Assessment:  This assessment, for adolescents or adults, focuses on an individual's presentation of signs or symptoms associated with mental illness or other mental health conditions.  The assessment typically includes a review of court or other documents as applicable, a clinical interview, a Mental Status Exam, and a lethality risk measure.  Based on the information provided, diagnostic impressions and treatment recommendations will be offered.
  • Sexual Offender Risk Assessment:  This assessment, for adolescents or adults, focuses on an individual's presentation of risk factors associated with sexual offending and other problematic sexual behaviors.  The assessment typically includes a review of court or other documents as applicable, a clinical interview, and sexual-offending specific risk measurement tools.  Based on the information provided, diagnostic impressions, an estimated level of risk related to sexual offending, and treatment recommendations will be offered.
